We would like to welcome you to the 46th CIAT General Assembly which will be held from the 23rd to the 26th of April, 2012, in Santiago, Chile.

Under the main theme “Improving the Performance of the Tax Administration: Evasion Control and Taxpayer Assistance”, we will be analyzing the alternatives that different countries are implementing in order to fight against evasion and improve taxpayer services, all the while understanding that it is necessary to continue promoting voluntary compliance and to have efficient controls that are innovative and specialized, leading to an increase of tax collection.

This meeting is pursuing, over all, a joint reflection among all the Tax Administrations which comprise the CIAT, the guest organizations, and all who attend, regarding the use of information technologies to improve performance and facilitate tax compliance, the improvement of the current tools used to evaluate taxpayer satisfaction and the quality of the services provided, as well as the measurement of evasion of VAT and income tax.
